Four distinct models of the rear- or all-wheel-drive 2024 Polestar 2 are on offer, each with a maximum output of 469 horsepower.
The updated 2024 Polestar 2 has been announced for Australia, with local sales set to begin on July 5. This comes some six months after the vehicle was first unveiled in Europe.
Even though the Polestar 2 is already among the best electric cars available, the Swedish manufacturer is constantly improving it. The base model Long Range Single Motor, which starts at AU$67,400 ($45,197), is the first to feature these upgrades.
The 69 kW battery pack that powers this variant can be charged at up to 135 kW via DC. Instead of the front-wheel drive configuration found on the current base model, this one has a single electric motor producing 200 kW (268 hp) and 490 Nm (361 lb-ft) of torque, which is used to propel the rear wheels.
Those in the market for a rear-wheel drive model with a little more range should consider the Long Range Single Motor. Powered by a larger 82 kWh battery that can be charged at 205 kW DC, this model can travel up to 654 km (406 miles) on a single charge. It has slightly more power than the previous model, 220 kW (295 hp) and 490 Nm (361 lb-ft) to be exact. It can reach 100 kilometers per hour (62 miles per hour) in 6.2 seconds and costs from AU$71,400 ($47,880).
Two additional models offer all-wheel drive. The first is an 82 kWh battery pack called the Long Range Dual Motor. With its new electric motor powering the rear wheels and a smaller electric motor up front producing a combined 310 kW (416 hp) and 740 Nm (546 lb-ft), it can now accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds. You can drive up to 367 miles (591 kilometers) on a single charge and pay as little as AU$76,400 (about $51,233).
The Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor with Performance Pack remains the flagship model. It has a starting price of AU$85,400 ($57,268) and can reach 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds thanks to its increased power of 350 kW (469 hp). It can travel up to 367 miles (591 kilometers), according to some estimates.
