Jeep will release an electric Wrangler in 2028

Stellantis and the UAW recently came to a rough deal to end the strike that had shut down many factories across the country for weeks.

While the specifics are still being worked out, a document containing Stellantis’s production plans for the next few years was leaked on social media during the approval process.

The paper says that Jeep’s most famous model, the Wrangler, will stay in its current JL generation at the Toledo Assembly Complex until 2028.

The next Wrangler, called the J70, will come out in 2028, but it will only be available as an electric or plug-in hybrid off-roader.

The plug-in setup will be different from the standard 4xe.

It will work as a series hybrid, with the motor charging the battery instead of powering the wheels.
